AVR gets the most out of residual waste. The residual product of residual waste incineration is ash in the bottom of the incinerator. Our partners turn this ‘bottom ash’ into clean granular aggregates that manufacturers of construction materials use as a gravel substitute in concrete products. The granules are also used as clean construction materials, for example in Rijkswaterstaat (Ministry of Public Works) infrastructure projects.

The granulates used are so clean that they can be reused several times. A concrete block and/or tile containing aggregates has the same reuse possibilities as concrete made from primary materials. The sustainable paving slabs are proof that waste doesn’t only contain energy, it also contains raw materials. Materials that deserve a new life – one that is just as beautiful.
