2023 Annual Report: Resilience
Last year, AVR had to deal with many challenges, but one thing became clear above all: our company’s resilience. In the 2023 Annual Report, you can read how we tackled the setbacks and which successes we achieved. In addition, there are unique stories from colleagues and our operational results. In short, the 2023 Annual Report gives a great overview of a memorable year.
Each year, we proudly present our annual report, filled with great, unique stories. This time, we look back on a turbulent period, characterised by both challenges and successes. The rejection of the acquisition of AEB, the huge increase in numbers of laughing gas cylinders in the residual waste and the dramatic fire at Rozenburg tested us and had significant consequences for our company and our clients.
But the annual report also highlights many positive developments: Duiven and the transfer stations performed well and we all experienced how strong the mutual collaboration and connection is in resolving issues. You can also read about our new leadership programme and the continuing innovations and sustainability initiatives that demonstrate our commitment to growth and improvement. For example, the positive response to the Porthos project in the port of Rotterdam also helped to get us closer to our CO2 capture activities. And we celebrated important milestones last year: Rozenburg had its 50th anniversary and we marked a ten-year partnership with our shareholder CKI.
In anticipation of new EU regulations on sustainability reporting, we organised the 2023 Annual Report based on the themes of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG). This way, we not only demonstrate in a structured way what we do in the areas of sustainability and social responsibility; we also offer insight into how our activities and strategies contribute to a positive impact on planet and society.
